The Carleton Jazz Ensemble, led by director David Singley, will give a concert at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 22, at the Carleton College Concert Hall.

The program will include standards from the Big Band repertoire and contemporary compositions.

Singley, a lecturer in jazz guitar, also is an accomplished world-class jazz guitarist who has shared the stage with jazz figures such as Bob Brookmeyer, George Shearing and Arturo Sandoval. He has performed with the Minnesota Orchestra, Minnesota Opera and the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra and has appeared on National Public Radio?s ?A Prairie Home Companion.? He has recorded numerous jazz compositions and is a member of two of the finest jazz ensembles in the Upper Midwest?the JazzMN Big Band and Zona, a progressive jazz quartet. Singley received his bachelor of music degree in jazz composition and arranging from the Berklee College of Music in Boston and a master of music degree in jazz studies from Indiana University.
