Vitaly Komar, a conceptual artist, was born in Moscow and has lived in New York since 1978. He is one of the founders of the Sots Art movement (Soviet Pop/Conceptual Art) and is a pioneer of multi-stylistic post-modernism. A participant in the infamous "Bulldozer Exhibition" (an unofficial 1974 exhibition by Soviet avant-gardists that was broken up by the authorities), Komar now has works in some of the world’s most prestigious art collections and museums.
