Company C Contemporary Ballet presents Second San Francisco Season May 26, 2007

Company C Contemporary Ballet is pleased to announce its second San Francisco season at the ODC Theater, May 26-27, 2007. The Company will present three world premieres including Alexandre Proia's Rhapsody in Blue, Patrick Corbin's Sea of My Soul, and Artistic Director Charles Anderson's new work, Echoes of Innocence. Company C Contemporary Ballet will also perform Paul Taylor's witty 3 Epitaphs and Charles Anderson's lovely Hush.

Alexandre Proia, a member of the Boston Ballet from 1981-83 and a soloist with the New York City Ballet from 1984-95, presents his world premiere of Rhapsody in Blue, the Company's second collaboration with Proia. Commissioned by the Mendocino Music Festival, the pas de quatre is set to one of Gershwin's most famous classical-jazz compositions.

Patrick Corbin was a member of the Joffrey Ballet from 1985-89, and later soloist with the Paul Taylor Dance Company. In Corbin's Sea of My Soul, composer Thomas Wilbrandt's highly creative modernization of themes by Vivaldi is a perfect match for Patrick Corbin's choreographic talent and synergy of classical and modern dance influences.

Company C Contemporary Ballet will also present dance legend Paul Taylor's famous work, 3 Epitaphs. The short work uses five dancers, set to early New Orleans jazz music and costumed by artist Robert Rauschenberg in faceless, head-to-toe mirrored unitards, attracted immediate attention from the dance world.

Artistic Director, Charles Anderson presents the world premiere of Echoes of Innocence, an intriguing and provocative look at the lost innocence of childhood. Also included in the program is Anderson's full version of Hush, a graceful exploration of movement quality that rides the edge between modern dance and ballet.
