Compagnie Marie Chouinard: Rite of Spring and Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun March 14, 2009

Marie Chouinard is a choreographer who cannot be mistaken for anyone else. Her Montreal-based company has received worldwide acclaim for its angular, startling and moving dance works. This weekend they make a triumphal return to Miami with two outstanding pieces that showcase Chouinard's unique and instinctive style. In the Rite of Spring, working with Stravinsky's music, Chouinard, through sensual, almost primal choreography, mines the intimate mysterious depths of each of her dancers. A short solo work, Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun preceeds Rite of Spring (includes nudity).
