Are you having trouble sleeping? Do you snore or have sleep apnea? Do you wake up excessively during the night? AWAKE, Community Hospital Anderson’s sleep disorders support group can help. The next meeting will be held on Tuesday, April 24, 2007 at Community Anderson’s Education Center, 1923 N. Madison Avenue from 6 to 8 p.m.

Sleep apnea is a chronic condition that affects one of every five people, and can cause serious problems to someone undiagnosed, including heart and lung damage, an increased risk for accidents, memory loss, excessive daytime sleepiness (including falling asleep without warning in the workplace, while driving or even at home) and high blood pressure.

AWAKE in Anderson (Alert, Well and Keeping Energetic) is the first support group in Madison County targeted to those coping with a variety of sleep-related disorders, although the primary focus is on apnea.

The speaker this month will be Saiful Kabir, M.D., FCCP Diplomat of the American Board of Pulmonary Diseases, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine
