The American Heart Association reports that coronary heart disease is the nation’s single
leading cause of death and projects that about 1.2 million Americans will have a first or
recurrent coronary attack this year. The National Stroke Association reports more than 750,000
strokes occur each year in the United States. Increased complications and brain damage occur
because many victims don’t realize they are having a stroke and wait too long after symptoms
begin before seeking medical assistance. Early detection and treatment of both heart and stroke
conditions can greatly increase the chances of recovery.

Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital and the Memorial Hermann Wellness Center invite
you to “Know Your Risk,” a FREE health fair designed to educate the community about heart
and stroke risk factors and to screen individuals who may be at risk.
