The History Center produces a series of public meetings as part of the Future of Richmond’s Past initiative, a citywide effort to engage audiences in a dialogue about the region’s past and how that past can positively shape our future. These Community Conversations are open to the public and occur at different locations throughout the city. Each is facilitated by Matthew Freeman of TMI Consulting, who uses technology to gather data from the audience in real time. The conversations also will include a keynote speaker. This installment features Larissa Smith Fergeson, associate professor of history at Longwood University, on the topic of Civil Rights in Richmond in the 1930s and 1940s.
