Do your friends always tell you that you’re funny? Have you thought about stand-up but don’t know where begin? For anyone who has ever thought about trying stand-up comedy, invaluable lessons on where to start will be offered at a free comedy workshop being given by The Manhattan Comedy School at Comix!

Saturday, May 16th at 2:00 PM

Call (212) 462-3200 for reservations and register online (please note that space is limited)

Among those who will speak at the workshop called Anybody Can Do Stand-Up Comedy! are Seinfeld and Cheers writer Tom Leopold, Comix owner Harlan Halper, founder of The Manhattan Comedy School and the Director of New Talent at Comix Andy Engel, and national headliner who has had her own ½ hour specials on both Comedy Central and HBO, Cory Kahaney. Cory is also the instructor for The Manhattan Comedy School.

The workshop will answer common questions that concern aspiring stand-ups, including: how to get stage time, the five cardinal rules for beginners, why being nervous is normal and healthy, what material to use for an industry DVD, when to audition, how to find an agent, and more. There will also be a brief question-and-answer session with the speakers immediately following the workshop.

The workshop will also outline the structure of The Manhattan Comedy School’s eight-week stand-up class that will begin on Wednesday May 27th. This course is the city’s premier class for aspiring stand-ups, and has also helped countless professionals with their public speaking skills. The course concludes with a live graduation show at Comix, where each student will receive a complimentary broadcast quality DVD of their performance.
