In 1963 the entire community got behind the idea of the Playhouse because people believed it could make a vital contribution to the education, economy and way of life in Crossville. Now in 2009 a community of actors and technicians from across the United States are COMING HOME to get behind the Playhouse, raise funds, and rekindle the community awareness and passion that built the Playhouse in 1965.

CCP hosts over 150,000 visits each year, including over 100,000 visitors from other counties, states and nations, and generates over $10 million in commerce, real estate, lodging, restaurants and shopping, plus about $500,000 in direct sales and lodging taxes. The company earns over 85% of all revenues, and has been hit hard by the national economy in the past year, but remains a powerful marketing engine for the Cumberlands. CCP TV and print advertising and direct mail continually draws visitors to area businesses from the greater Knoxville-Nashville-Chattanooga media region.
