ComedySportz
Summer Improv Theatre Camp
2009

This isn't your ordinary camp.

It's just not. There
are no canoes. There are no cabins. We don't have Indian names (unless
you were given one at birth). We have showers. People cook for us. We
might make something out of macaroni, but it's doubtful.

Here's
what we are: the best camp for improv training if you're a high school
student, a college student or an educator who works with theatre
students.

You're going to laugh a lot. Not a little--a lot.

You'll
walk away with skills that will benefit you your entire life: trust,
confidence, creative problem solving, teamwork, focus and the ability
to turn challenges into gold. Simply, improv skills are essential for
any actor, but also for anyone who wants to succeed.

Dates
*New this year! A session begins in each of the summer months!

Session A, June 28 - July 2 (Sun - Thurs)
Session B, July 21 - 25 (Tue - Sat)
Session C, August 4 - 8 (Tue - Sat)

What to Expect

All
workshops are taught by professionals from ComedySportz Los Angeles,
the longest-running show in the city (20 years) and the presenters of
the largest teen improv program in the United States, The High School
League (operating for 19 years).

Evenings
are filled with different shows every night, and there's plenty of time
for swimming, basketball, classic comedy films and more.

Workshops include: games, dramatic improv, musical improv, styles, Shakespeare, commercial auditioning and more!

What's included

Camp fee includes lodging, meals, late-night snacks, workshops, performances, free-time activities and all materials.

Discounts

Be
sure to check out the low cost and the scholarships available. You can
also get discounts for early registration or for bringing along some

Location

This years camp will be held on the campus of Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy in the San Gabriel mountains. FSHA is
a longtime supporter of ComedySportz and our High School
League; however, as always, our camp has no religious affiliation of any
kind.

Originally
built as a luxury hotel in 1927, the Flintridge Biltmore Hotel was
first managed by Senator Frank P. Flint. The hotel was sold in 1931 to
become the school and has been administered ever since by the
Dominican Sisters of Mission San Jose. This historical building won
several awards for architecture and is perched on top of the hills with
views overlooking beautiful La Canada on one side and Pasadena and the
Rose Bowl on the other.

Most sleeping
rooms are triple-occupancy with two twin beds and one Aerobed. The rooms
are spacious and come furnished with dressers, desks and fans. Each room
also has its own private bathroom with tub and shower, and walk-in
closets.
Students will also have access to ping pong, air hockey, foosball, a pool table and pianos.
Three meals
a day are served in the dining room. Each meal is the chefs selection
with a vegetarian option, and a late-night snack is offered each day.
ComedySportz will
be the only group on campus and will have private use of the facilities
including the classrooms, dance studio, auditorium and amphitheatre. The
softball field and soccer field offer a breathtaking view of the
mountains and valley below. There are also plenty of quiet retreats
tucked away near fountains, patios and trees. You'll probably see a deer
or two while you're there.
We will
once again be able to offer a week of camp in August! This will allow
students who participate in summer school to still be able to join in
the fun of camp.
FSHA's suburban,
hilltop location isolates the campus and its guests from excessive
traffic and passers-by, creating a safe and secure environment. The
resident staff and FSHA's security guards provide 24-hour supervision
for the residents and guests.
Meals
Three
meals are prepared per day. Each meal features the chef's selection and
a vegetarion option. Special food needs can be accommodated. A late
night snack is also provided.
Student-Teacher Ratio
Our student-teacher ratio is 7:1. Assistant counselors bring the ratio to 3:1. Night time security guard is provided.
More Info
Once
you've registered you'll get a confirmation via e-mail. Then, in May or
early June, you will start to receive further e-mails from us with
directions to camp, a list of what to bring, a couple of forms to fill
out and all sorts of useful information.

It's the opportunity of a lifetime. Don't miss out. We might make macaroni hats.
