Comedy Fundraiser-Smiles, Giggles & Laughs September 12, 2008

Four comedians and an Albuquerque comedy pioneer come together for two evenings of “Smiles, Giggles & Laughs” to raise money for Albuquerque Civic Light Opera. At 8:15 p.m. September 12 & 13, 2008, audiences will experience a comedy club atmosphere at the African American Performing Arts Center at 310 San Pedro NE.

Emcee and producer of the event Ronn Perea welcomes Pete Christensen, Roger C. Blair, Mike Boyle and Larry Heyeck to the stage for “Smiles, Giggles & Laughs.”

Headliner Pete Christensen has been performing for over twenty years. He’s toured with some of the biggest names in the business and opened for numerous musical acts. He’s appeared in over a dozen movies and television shows. He has a reputation for clean comedy that makes you think. He performs solo and as part of a musical comedy duo known as The Blackjack Brothers.

Mike Boyle arrived in Albuquerque in 2001 and he hasn’t been the same since. Boyle’s comic gift is being able to look at life through a child’s eyes, but express his thoughts in an adult manner - another word for cynicism. Roger C. Blair is a Southwestern road comic based in Albuquerque. Nicknamed the “Southwest Borscht Belt Comic” because of his “Take my wife, por favor” jokes, Blair was recently awarded the New Mexico Hispano Entertainers Association People’s Choice Award for Comedian of the Year.

Heyeck, an employee for the State of New Mexico who lives in Santa Fe, will open the show with his perspective on the State Legislature.
