Comedy expert Steve Kaplan will speak at the Alameda Writers Group (AWG) meeting on Saturday, August 6, 2005. Doors open at 9:45 a.m. and the meeting begins at 10 a.m. at the Glendale Central Library, 222 East Harvard St., Glendale.

Kaplan, the most sought-after comedy expert in the industry, created the HBO Workspace, the HBO New Writers Program and was co-founder and Artistic Director of Manhattan's Punch Line Theatre. He has worked with everyone from top stars (Jack Black, Nathan Lane, Nia Vardalos) to first time comedy writers, producers, directors and performers.

He?l share highlights from his Comedy Intensive workshop to help writers understand comedy from the inside out.

Admission is free, and the library validates parking in the structure at Harvard and Maryland.

The AWG presents lectures by novelists, screenwriters, agents, producers and other industry professionals at free monthly meetings. In addition, AWG members may attend special interest groups that offer support and feedback for works-in-progress.
