The struggle of one young life and the promise of eternity for all are explored in two contrasting works that comprise Columbia Pro Cantare’s March 10 concert. The full chorus will perform the ethereal Requiem, composed by Gabriel Fauré in 1888 during his tenure as organist and choirmaster in Paris. The Chamber Singers take center stage for David Lang’s haunting, Pulitzer Prize-winning work, The Little Match Girl Passion, based on the Hans Christian Andersen tale. Frances Motyca Dawson will conduct.
