Colin Dunne - Out of Time November 2, 2011

Commissioned by Glor Theatre Ennis.

Colin Dunne takes a sojourn from his past in his first full-length solo show. Out of Time seamlessly integrates movement, film and sound design with the step dance tradition for which he is internationally acclaimed, to offer a new twist and a contemporary perspective of the art form.

Dunne is joined onstage by archival film images of dancers from the 1930’s onwards – including himself as a ten year old boy. Movement, sound and image come together to create a provocative dialogue between past and present. The show has become highly regarded at the international arts festivals, and the Barclay is pleased to host its West Coast premiere.

Dunne was nominated for a Laurence Olivier Award 2010 (outstanding achievement in dance) and for a UK Critics Circle National Dance Award 2009 (Best Male Dancer).

Intimate and playful, Out of Time is both an unsentimental homage to Irish step dance, and a bold look at Dunne’s personal and artistic relationship with a tradition that has shaped his life.
