Celebrating its 62nd anniversary in 2008, the Competition is one of the most prestigious in the country and each year attracts gifted young artists from universities and conservatories around the country as well as from abroad. Finalists compete for the $7,500 Alice Coleman Prize, the $4,000 Coleman-Barstow Prize for Strings and the $4,000 Coleman-Saunderson Prize for Winds and Brass. The Competition is open to the public, free of charge.
