Colcha: Embroidered Connection February 22, 2011

This exhibition is organized by the Museums of New Mexico, New Mexico Farm and Ranch Heritage Museum (FRHM) and co-curated by FRHM volunteers Rita Hartley and Mary Pierce. Lenders include the Museum of Spanish Colonial Art; Museums of New Mexico, Museum of International Folk Art, Kathleen Sais Lerner, Beatrice Maestas Sandoval, J. Paul Taylor, and Mary Pierce, as well as works from the permanent collection of the Albuquerque Museum of Art and History. More than twenty examples of historic and contemporary colchas are presented, including works by Trinidad Pino Baca, Julia Gomez, Rebecca James, Kathleen Sais Lerner, Irene Lopez, Beatrice Maestas Sandoval and Maria Vergara Wilson.
