CocoRosie is a lo-fi indie folk-tronic duo comprised of half-cherokee sisters Bianca "Coco" and Sierra "Rosie" Casady in Paris, France. Anybody unfamiliar with CocoRosie would instantly be able to tell that they are one of the quirkier packages in modern independent music, from their unconventional songwriting to their distinctive look. Often taking the stage in costume dresses and copious amounts of Cabaret-style rouge, they are known for their theatrically engaging live performances. More importantly, they write wistful songs of their European travels that include everything from xylophone and harp to screetching cat samples. They perform at Republic on September 27th in support of their new record, Grey Oceans.
