We are pleased to announce the 3rd Annual Coalition for Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans Conference, Strengthening Services for Those Who Serve, May 11-13, 2010 at the Renaissance Mayflower Hotel in Washington, DC.

This unique four day gathering will bring together CIAV organizations, federal agencies, community nonprofits, funders, subject matter experts, concerned citizens, and others to share information and build a strong nationwide network of care for our military, veterans, families and survivors.

Keynote speakers will include:

Tuesday May 11:

Lee Woodruff will provide a personal account of her family's experience dealing with Traumatic Brain Injury and the subsequent healing and recovery process. Lee co-authored "In An Instant" with her husband and TBI survivor, Bob Woodruff, and co-founded The Bob Woodruff Foundation. She is personally aware of the challenges of recovery and has, through the Foundation, been an outspoken advocate for providing servicemen and women the long-term care they need and supportive services to help reintegration into their communities.

Colonel Charles W. Hoge, MD, U.S. Army (Ret.), author of "Once a Warrior, Always a Warrior" and a leading advocate for eliminating the stigma of mental healthcare, will present recent finding on issues of PTSD, TBI, and other combat related psychological trauma.

Wednesday May 12:

Brigadier General Loree Sutton, who is the highest ranking psychiatrist in the U.S. Army, has served as director of DCoE since November 2007. She also serves as special assistant to the assistant secretary of defense for health affairs.

Join us as we discuss strategic ways in which communities, non-profits, and government may work together to ensure that all military personnel, veterans, their families, and survivors receive the support they have earned serving in our armed forces.
