The Climate Change Show Exhibit Opening Activities

SFWMD’s Water Ways - Noon to 4 p.m. - After learning about climate change and rising seas in The Climate Change Show exhibit, join our friends from the South Florida Water Management District to learn more about local water conservation efforts, and how you can help our ongoing issues with our waterways here in South Florida.

Waste to Energy - 3:30 p.m. - What is electricity? How is it made? And what does garbage have to do with it? Explore the concepts of static electricity, energy, and the science of sparks in this exciting demonstration.

Endangered! - 12:30 p.m. - Because of pollution, development and global climate change, many of the animals that call Earth home are drifting towards extinction. During this animal show, Museum visitors will get to meet some living endangered species up close and personal. We will also discuss how to help save those animals, and why they are endangered in the first place.

Recycle Relay Race - 1:30 p.m. - Recycling can greatly reduce the amount of harm we do to our environment. Reducing the amount of waste that we throw away can only help protect our planet’s limited valuable natural resources. During this fast-paced race, kids of all ages can see if they can out-sort, and out-recycle the other team.

What on Earth? - 2:30 p.m. - Earth is an amazing place with an amazing history. How was the Earth formed? How does the Earth change over time? What shapes our earth? What is global climate change? All of these questions and more will be answered as we explore our planet through an interactive presentation and live experiments.

Save the Planet and Save Some Money - 1 p.m. to 4p.m. - There are many ways to transform our homes and businesses into environmentally friendly places. Not only can you save many of the Earth’s precious resources, but you can also save some money. Swing by the Science Café and learn how to save the planet, and save some money!

Make Your Own Recycled Paper - 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. - Paper was first made by the ancient Egyptians using the fibers of the papyrus plant, but you don’t have to know a pharaoh to make your own paper nowadays. Learn the history of paper, and make your own natural recycled paper that you can take home with you!
