Classical guitarist Brenda Buckendahl September 16, 2009

Brenda Buckendahl, Bay St. Louis classical guitarist, will perform in a concert on Wednesday, September 16, at 7 p.m. at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College’s Jefferson Davis Campus in Gulfport.

The concert, free and open to the public, will include the works of classical guitar composers Tarrega, Sor and Torroba. The event will also feature original compositions by Buckendahl, a music instructor at the Jefferson Davis Campus since last spring.

Buckendahl holds a Master of Music degree from Northern Arizona University, where she studied with Tom Sheeley, a student of Argentinean Master Guitarist Manuel Lopez Ramos. She has performed extensively throughout the Southwest, and in duet with internationally acclaimed flutist Gwen Powell in Arizona, Colorado and Montana. She has also been the soloist with several orchestras, and has won several competitions for composition and performance. She has recorded two CDs.
