INDIANAPOLIS- Clarian Health’s forth annual Hispanic/Latino Health Summit focuses on advocating for Latino patients. The summit draws health care professionals, community-based medical providers, and Hispanic/Latino health experts. This statewide summit brings together local, regional and national experts to strengthen health care access for the Hispanic/Latino population.

As a leader in community outreach efforts, Clarian works to ensure that the entire community becomes engaged in improving the health of our Latino neighbors and friends. Offering programs that fit the unique language and culture of Latino patients encourages our fastest growing population to visit primary care physicians for annual preventative check-ups and otherwise follow healthy behaviors. Clarian provides the Hispanic/Latino Health Summit to expand services throughout Indiana to find new ways to improve the lives and health of Indiana’s residents.

The summit features keynote speaker, Jeannette Noltenius, PhD Vice President of Strategic Solutions Washington. Noltenius will talk about “A Call to Change”: Becoming a Hispanic/Latino Health Advocate.

The summit also has breakout sessions outlining:

Legal Issues Facing the Hispanic/Latino Patient
Health Literacy and the Hispanic/Latino Patient
Empowering the Hispanic/Latino Patient
Presentation of successful mental health and domestic violence and prevention programs for Latinos.

The speakers and summit medical director, Javier Sevilla-Martir, Assistant Professor of Family Medicine, Indiana University School of Medicine are available on Thursday for interviews.
