Re-live one of the most fascinating periods of American History as the 33rd Virginia and the 49th New York regiments host as many as 300 re-enactors on the grounds of Amherst Museum. They assume the persona of a Civil War soldier when they enter the grounds on Friday evening to begin the encampment and continue to live as mid-19th-century soldiers until the closing on Sunday.
The event is open to the public Saturday 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. Visitors will be able to visit camps, talk to the soldiers, tour historic buildings, watch artillery demonstrations, watch a battle, listen to music of the era, join in camp dancing, and shop with battlefield vendors or “sutlers.”
The visitor will leave with a real sense of the life of the Civil War soldier. For a complete schedule of events call 689-1440 or visit www.amherstmuseum.org.

Admission includes all current Museum exhibits, grounds and historic buildings.
