City to Surf (Activ Foundation) August 26, 2006

Activ Foundation's City to Surf is the largest community sporting event in Western Australia and the second largest of it's kind in Australia!

The first City to Surf was held on 23 February 1975 and saw 500 participants compete in the inaugural event. In this year's event, a massive 25,101 registered to compete in the 12km, 11km or 4km categories and in doing so, raised much needed funds for Activ Foundation.

The course is essentially the same as that used in 1975 - commencing on St George's Terrace in the City and finishing at City Beach, although today the Finish Line is situated on the firm grass of City Beach Oval rather than the soft sand of the shoreline - a small change that is nevertheless greatly appreciated by the calves of the 12km runners!
