After lead singer Jennifer Tonapi's maternity leave, Ohio's best original folk band tore the place up with a rousing set at Park St. Tavern on December 29th. City Folk's tune-up gig was just the start to new, bigger and better career outlook with a fierce and super tight show. You may know City Folk (as many do) from awesome performances at Red, White & Boom and many other high-profile events. A recent deal with M-Agency also brightens the bands future with the promise of an aggressive booking and publicity effort. Come see what all the fuss is about on Friday, March 9th beginning at 8:00pm where the sounds of City Folk fill the air at Espresso Yourself Music Cafe (50 W. Olentangy St., Powell, 614-436-7100). Check out some City Folk information, free mp3s and more, below. And see you at the show where admission is free!http://cityfolkcolumbus.com/M-Agency Artists City Folk performs original, acoustic folk and country music unlike any other act in the style of such music legends as Neil Young, Emmylou Harris and John Hiatt. City Folk uses fine acoustic instruments and high quality sound equipment to reproduce the natural tones of the instruments and voices - unlike other acoustic acts that use wired instruments and amplifiers. It is as though the audience dropped by for a visit and the band is giving a private performance in their own living room.City Folk consistently plays Ohio's top fairs and festivals including The Ohio State Fair, The Community Festival or "ComFest", Red, White & Boom! and other venues where you expect the finest in original music. The "family friendly" band is available for fairs and festivals, weddings and private parties & the occasional bookstores, coffee shops and nightclubs. City Folk can adapt from small to large events by offering a you choices of contracting a trio or 5-piece band.City Folk features the original music of band founder, John Bell, written and produced in central Ohio about life here and the American Midwest. These are songs of love, laughter, loneliness and life. Don Gibson also contributes several of his original songs to the band's repertoire. The City Folk DEMO CD contains the band's live performances of three of John's songs recorded in early 2004. The first track titled Country In My Soul is an upbeat song with an upbeat message, and is typical of Bell's writing. The second track Further From Here Than Yesterday is both broad and bittersweet. The closing track 2640 Fair Avenue is a nostalgic and sentimental piece, hearkening back to a simpler time. City Folk makes their MultiFestival debut!
