Christopher Payne-Taylor is an nu-acoustic rocker with a brash punk edge, dark carnel energy and sophisticated intellectualism. Not your grandfathers singer/songwriter, he infuses his own particular brand of stereotype-defying punk-flavored, nu-acoustic rock with a wry, irreverent stage presence and set of dark, existential musings on love, lust, pain and spirituality. Co-founder of New York punk band, Karyn Satin & the Bedsheets, in the iconic CBGBs era, Payne-Taylors aesthetic was shaped by the previous founding of avant-garde threatrical production group, Inquest Productions, where he served as writer, director, producer and actor. Moving from the Lower East Side in New York over a decade ago, his medium subsequently moved to marketing; long tenures as Creative and Marketing Director on both the agency and client sides have most recently culminated in his co-founding of AdME (Advertising-driven Mobile Entertainment), a branded mobile entertainment company currently in negotiations with such customer/partners as ABC-TV, Gibson Guitar Corporation, Hill-Holliday and Chiat/Day advertising agencies. The fusion of music and marketing experiences has led Payne-Taylor to an unsentimentalized world view, informed less by the latter-day pop worlds soft emotionalism and social resonances than the hard passion of dissonant reality. "Punk," he comments, "was never so much about being bad little boys and girls as saying what needs to be said without artifice or excuse. Feelings are not facts; they change, and so does life. Which means youve got a choice, either react or respond. As I say in one of my tunes, there are no victims, only volunteers." Married to Karyn Satin, former lead singer of KS&B, Christopher currently lives in Massachusetts with his wife and their stellar high-school student daughter who, without a trace of irony, cares little for theirs, or anybody elses, rock n roll.
