Christmas in Pendleton

Plans are underway for the 11th annual Christmas in Pendleton festival scheduled for Saturday, November 10th in downtown Pendleton. Shopping and festivities begin at 9:00 am and conclude with the Christmas tree lighting and caroling at 5:00 pm in front of the Pendleton Post Office.
The Pendleton Retail Association named Pendleton resident Bonny Clark as the 2007 event coordinator for this unique holiday event. Clark will work with the downtown and Marsh Plaza Retail Shops to bring the spirit of Christmas to Pendleton. The most famous part of the Christmas in Pendleton festival is the first snow of the season that always fills the downtown area shops and streets and creates the wintry scene for the holiday event.
Every shop will be filled with Christmas gifts and feature holiday items. Expect to find refreshments in shops as well as at street-lined booths and food vendors in addition to unique dining opportunities in Pendleton. Visitors will be able to register for a huge gift basket of items donated by area merchants as well as bid on a variety of holiday items at the silent auction at the Pendleton Town Hall .
Santa Claus will arrive by carriage at 1:00 pm as he leads a parade of floats, and area organizations through the downtown streets. New to the parade this year will be the crowning of the Snow Queen and Court, a Holiday Pet Parade, and a downtown snowball fight just as the parade kicks off. Channel 13 weatherman Jude Redfield will be featured as parade Grand Marshall. Everyone is invited to join Jude and town officials at a town reception of cookies and punch as he measures the first official snow of the season and proudly declares that Christmas has come to Pendleton.
This year, festival attendees will be able to take a carriage ride through historic Pendleton, build an igloo, enjoy local eateries, stroll the unique shops, participate in the first snowball fight of the season, purchase collectable historic Pendleton ornaments, listen to the strolling Victorian violinists, sing along with carolers and visit with Santa as children have their pictures taken with the jolly old elf himself at the downtown Santa Shop.
Anyone wanting to participate in the festival, enter the Queen & Court contest, build an igloo or participate in the parade can get more information about Christmas in Pendleton by e-mailing Bonny Clark @ [email protected] or call: (765) 617-5912.
