The tour will feature six stops, including five homes and a final stop at the century old Geyer Theater.
Self-guided and self paced, the tour allows visitors to visit homes at the their leisure.
“We’re excited this year,” historical society president Jackie Rabenstien said. “last year we had almost 300 (visitors) and that was wonderful for our first year. It was a miserable day, with rain pouring down, but we still had a wonderful response.”
This year's tour will feature:
* The historic Loucks mansion on Chestnut Street. The newly refurbished home boasts of being the oldest in Scottdale, and features an exterior spring house and summer kitchen.
* The office of Attorney James Lederach, south of the Loucks Homestead on Chestnut Street, circa 1882, features a mansard roof, hooded windows and a faux marble fireplace. Staying true to it’s design, the house is painted in period colors and features original tile and parquet flooring.
* The wonderful period bungalow of Sue and Barry Brooks on George Street is the third home. Erected before 1920, the home is a fine example of the changes that the new century brought to home design. The one-and-a-half story home showcases a Colonial Williamsburg-inspired interior.
* The huge 1873 Queen Anne home of Roberta and Mike Lashinsky is located on Pittsburgh Street and features a stone fireplace and stone arched entry.
* The Second Empire styled home of Marty and Joe Hawk also will be included. This home also boasts of a classic mansard roof and elaborate scrollwork on the porches. This is a family home for Joe Hawk, whose family will be celebrating 50 years in the structure.
“We thought it would be a nice way to celebrate the 50th anniversary,” Marty Hawk said. “We’re excited to be a part of this.”
The tour will conclude at the Geyer Theater on Pittsburgh Street, the site of the town old opera house where light refreshments will be served. Visitors and can the homes in any order.
Tickets for the event are will be $20 and can be purchased at Collections By Marty, Creative Expressions, Levin Furniture, West Overton Museums, the Mt. Pleasant Historical Society and the Geyer Theater.
