North Charleston, South Carolina

What is the most familiar pattern in the sky? Seen by more than half the world’s population, the Big Dipper can be used to keep track of the seasons, to tell time at night, and to guide our way in the dark. Performed with beautifully crafted marionettes and animated shadow images, The Big Dipper includes stories from the ancient Chinese, the classical Greeks, the Micmac Indians, and the Southern slaves who found freedom in the north by following the “drinking gourd.” For grades K – 8.
