For a lot of us, April 15th is a stressful and dreaded tax deadline. For Chicane Theory and its fans, the date this year means a live debut of
an indie rock trio that's full of imagination, creativity, originality, and pop sensibility. The Sunday night gig at First Avenue's 7th Street Entry is made possible through the Diverse and Emerging Music Organization (D.E.M.O.), which organizes a number of music showcases every week at metro music venues.

Chicane Theory (www.chicanetheory.com) is fronted by singer/guitarist Nicholas Roesler. Last summer, Roesler emerged from anonymity by landing a song called "Decision," on Minneapolis' Rift Magazine's CD Compilation Vol. 1, which included 20 tracks from local musicians such as Chris Koza, Low Lustre, Beight, and Colonial Vipers Attack. After playing a handful of acoustic shows in Minneapolis and St. Paul, and enjoying some local media attention, including radio play, Roesler asked Casey Virock and Jeffrey Bahr to join him on bass and drums. Chicane Theory was born.

The band's all original material encompasses a spectrum of sound ranging from edgy loud guitars, driving bass, and aggressive drumming to hauntingly clean guitar and heartfelt vocals. While the group can be compared to Dinosaur Jr., Nirvana, Foo Fighters, Swervedriver, Radiohead, Shiner, and Coldplay, Chicane Theory clearly has its own individual voice and appeal. The band plans to release a CD before year end.

The Sunday, April 15th show at 7th Street Entry starts at 8PM, with Chicane Theory's set beginning around 11PM. Also playing as part of this D.E.M.O. (www.demomn.org) "Hi-Fi" Showcase are Codger, Pleasant Street Conspiracy, Running Down Renee, and Pat Dougherty. Admission is $5 / 18+.
