CHICAGO- Chicago Dance Crash is proud to continue its 2006 season from July 20th thru the 30th with an ambitious evening length ballet conceived and choreographed by Artistic Director Christopher McCray. Ghost Play continues Dance Crashes? tradition of ?unapologetic? athleticism while also revisiting the idea of story through movement. Following last summer?s successful run of Tribulation and the Demolition Squad, The Crash family has prepared to spare no expense, adding high fashion and a smoking hot soundtrack to its successful history of innovative dance theatre.
In Ghost Play, Death is Passé

Artistic Director Christopher McCray?s new evening length ballet offers a fusion of the combative and unapologetic technique of Dance Crash with a flashy and explosive storytelling aesthetic that delivers to audiences a true movement play. With a strong layering of dance, combat, and theatre and a stiff shot of human psychology, CDC will continue its tradition of turning the modern dance movement into a challenging, experimental, AND accessible art form.

Ghost Play combines lofty fashion and indulgent form to tell a timeless story of man?s struggle through movement. When a Neo-Victorian society is rocked by a destructive and elaborate fight for power, one man is caught in a game of chess where the only way to protect the people is to protect the King. In an artificial utopia molded from timeless struggles and seminal imagery, Death and drugs take on human forms while a sexy, intoxicating and invisible emcee provides a sonic commentary about on post-apocalyptic royalty. McCray uses every convention physically and aesthetically to prove that dance is capable of successfully telling a significant and emotionally complex story.
