Charles Hayter: Lady in Waiting (at the Fresh Fruit Festival) July 19, 2008

Canadian writer, actor, teacher and physician Charles Hayter splits his time between medical practice and theatre. His semi-autobiographical solo show is about a doctor with a secret life as a drag queen. Kenneth Kain is leading a double life: doctor by day and drag queen by night. One fateful evening, his carefully partitioned life begins to collapse.The play traces Hayter’s own attempts to keep his compartmentalized life in order and will resonate with anyone who has tried to live a divided life and found his or her worlds colliding. Hayter works as an Oncologist, and has an MD from Queen's University. Prior to medical school he completed a Master's degree in theatre whilst working as an actor and director in Western Canada.
