Reading and discussion with Jeffrey Feldman, author of Framing the Debate: Famous Presidential Speeches and How Progressives Can Use Them to Change the Conversation (And Win Elections). Feldman applies the theories of George Lakoff in two directions. First, he analyzes how past politicians have framed issues to advance their agendas. Then, he describes how candidates, advocacy groups and interested citizens can use framing as a better way to communicate with each other, experience the world and solve problems.

Feldman will discuss how Minnesota progressives can apply these lessons.
