Featured Artists Include Violinists Robert Wilkie and Nina Evtuhov;

Chamber Music Palisades, acclaimed for its roster of stellar guest artists and diverse programming, concludes its 12th Season with music by Mozart, Villa-Lobos, Hindemith and Franck on Tuesday, April 28, 2009, at 8:00 p.m., at St. Matthew's Parish in Pacific Palisades. Series Co-Founders and Co-Artistic Directors Delores Stevens, piano, and Susan Greenberg, flute, are joined by violinists Robert Wilkie and Nina Evtuhov as well as Carrie Dennis, principal viola with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, and John Walz, principal cello with LA Opera.

The program features Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's (1756-1791) sunny Quartet in D Major for flute, violin, viola and cello as well as the more contemporary Jet Whistle, an elegant and intriguing piece for flute and cello by Brazilian composer Villa Lobos (1887-1959), which was written in 1950 and boasts three perfectly balanced short movements. The concert continues with Paul Hindemith's (1895-1963) highly regarded Sonata for Viola and Piano. A renowned violist himself, Hindemith wrote sonatas for every major instrument in the orchestra, but his Sonata for Viola and Piano is a particularly personal work. Rounding out the evening - and the season - is the noted Quintet for piano and strings by late Romantic composer César Franck (1822-1890), known for his graceful musical modulations and reverential compositions.

Chamber Music Palisades was founded in 1997 by Pacific Palisades residents Greenberg and Stevens. They draw guest artists from their vast pool of talented colleagues in the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra plus other leading instrumentalists from the U.S. and Europe. In addition to presenting established chamber works, Chamber Music Palisades has commissioned nearly a dozen new pieces by such renowned composers as Paul Chihara, Jane Brockman, Henri Lazarof, Adrienne Albert, Maria Newman, Gernot Wolfgang and Joel McNeely.
