On Saturday, February 23, 2013, the Central Virginia UASI will host its 3rd Survivor Day preparedness training event! Central Virginia residents can learn how to live safely through natural disasters and other emergencies: hurricanes, floods, tornadoes, earthquakes, blizzards and more. Emergency and Community Response professionals will teach citizens the best ways to prepare for those life threatening situations so they know how to survive in their home without power for at least 72 hours, and they’ll find out what to take with them should they need to leave in a hurry.

Classes will be held at 12 locations in 10 localities. See the Survivor Day website for all training locations. All pre-registered attendees who complete the 4 hour training will receive free survivor kit supplies and a backpack (limit one per household). Classes are on a first come, first serve basis.

Sign up is online at www.survivorday.com or by calling 211. Pre-registration is required and check in begins at 8:00am. The program will conclude by 12:00pm. Survivor Day is presented by the Central Virginia Urban Area Security Initiative with funding from the US Department of Homeland Security.
Seating is limited so don’t wait. Sign up now!
