Arts Gala 2008 will showcase the exceptional artistic talents of students from the Center of the Visual and Performing Arts at Suitland High School. This exciting evening will feature a variety of performances from the CVPA chorus, symphonic band, orchestra, theatre and dance departments as well as multimedia presentation of artworks by students majoring in the visual arts.

The Center for the Visual and Performing Arts is a rigorous four-year arts program that prepares high school students in Prince George's County for professional careers and post-secondary studies in the arts. Students are selected through an audition process during the spring of their eighth or ninth grade year. Each year graduating CVPA students are awarded millions in scholarship monies and go on to attend some of the most prestigious conservatories, colleges and universities in the country and abroad.

CVPA is committed to providing every student with authentically artistic and academically challenging experiences. As such, every student is encouraged to attend at least one pre-college summer program prior to their graduation at a college of their choice. Proceeds from Arts Gala 2008 will be applied towards building a pre-college scholarship fund to benefit the many CVPA students who are accepted into pre-college programs yearly. Donations towards this cause are welcomed and highly appreciated. To learn more about CVPA, please visit www.pgcps.org/~svpa.
