Cellar Rats Beer Dinner May 13, 2010

Nearly 40 years ago Debonné Vineyards was the first winery to open in Madison, Ohio. Four decades later, the Debevc Family has added beer to its long-established selection of award-winning, craft-made wines. Beer drinkers have been able to try Cellar Rats micro-brews alongside their wine-drinking counterparts for just about two years now, and the word is getting out. "We were one lonely winery out here in 1972 when we opened," Debevc said. "People would come out to try what was being produced in this area. Out of that grew an industry of 20 wineries and it has become a major draw. What we've done is create a brewery that we hope will add another dimension to the wine district." Cellar Rats' beer styles were created to provide fresh, fun and interesting choices. Drawing on numerous brewing traditions to make their beers, this relatively new brewery always add their own "interpretation" of the traditional styles, resulting in consistently delicious, classic brew.
Until recently, the beer was only available at the winery in Madison. Grovewood added various Cellar Rats brews to our rotating taps about a year ago, and we are thrilled that Tony Debevc Jr. and Joel Sandrey of Cellar Rats/Debonné Vineyards will be presenting our next beer dinner. "Cellar Rats" is not just a great pun! What better way to dive into a new brewery than by trying a them paired with a fantastic menu from Grovewood's award-winning kitchen.
