presents
What: Celebration of Farming Day
When: Saturday, November 18th 2006, 10:00 am to 4:00 pm
Where: Old San Ysidro Church, Old Church Road, Corrales
DETAILS: A celebration of the farming tradition in Corrales, Celebration of Farming Day explores both the history of farming in the village as well as the modern practice. In addition to exhibits on farming in the Corrales of today and the distant past, there will be demonstrations on herbs, vineyards and wine making, heritage fruits trees, blacksmithing, and more. Old farm equipment and other antique machines will be on display. For the kids there will be corn shelling and old-fashioned ice cream making!
Local farmers will be on hand to answer questions and at 2 p.m. there will be a recognition ceremony for long time farmers and present growers. The Corrales Historical Society Docents will provide refreshments.
FURTHER INFORMATION: The program is free and open to the public. The Old Church is fully accessible to persons with disabilities.
DIRECTIONS: Take the Alameda exit (West) from I-25. From the intersection of Alameda Rd (NM 528) and Corrales Rd. (NM 448), go north for 3 miles to Old Church Rd, turn left (west) and proceed 0.3 miles to the Old Church.
