DiverseArts is excited to present "Chicano Classic"
paintings by Caroline Martinez. An Austin native,
Caroline became inspired to paint after her daughters
remarkable recovery after being diagnosed with cancer
in 2000. Bold and striking color combinations
characterize her impassioned depictions of barrio
characters with Latin American religious iconography.
She describes her work as "symbolic mexican street
art" and emphasizes the religious symbolism in her
work.

Caroline works out of her gallery Barrio Mexican
Religious Art Studio in East Austin.
Her art is influenced by family and friends and by her
own personal religious experiences including the
'miracle' of her daughters recovery. She says "I paint
from my heart, my eyes, and my feelings of struggle-
and with passion."
