Caroline Adams creates landscapes and seascapes that have a degree of ambiguity, allowing them to provoke a sense of familiarity and calm without presenting a specific location. She states: “While the Greek landscape and, most recently, the mid-Atlantic countryside are the inspiration for my current artwork, my hope is that the images themselves have become something more universal. I do not wish to offer social discourse; I am simply trying to express beauty.” Adams currently lives and works in Washington, DC.
