Born into a working-class family from Scotland in 1835, Andrew Carnegie came to America as child, eventually becaming the richest men in the world through his successful career in iron and steel manufacturing. Carnegie eventually devoted his life and nearly all of his fortune to philanthropy. The lecture will highlight the heroic acts of a few of the Carnegie Hero Medal recipients during the past year.
