Carlos Garaicoa Lecture Rescheduled

Due to unforeseen circumstances, Cuban artist Carlos Garaicoa must unfortunately postpone his lecture for the Urban Field Speaker Series. The lecture, originally scheduled for Thursday, November 30, 2006, is now scheduled to take place on Thursday, January 18, 2007 at 7:30 PM at Prefix Institute of Contemporary Art. Please note that final confirmation of this revised lecture date is dependent upon the successful resolution of Garaicoa 19;s unanticipated Brazilian visa complications. Prefix apologizes for any inconvenience this may have caused. Should you have any questions, please contact Daniel Ehrenworth, Public Programs Manager, at 416-591-0357 or .

About the Urban Field Speakers Series:

After a hugely successful inaugural year, Prefix Institute of Contemporary Art is proud to present the second season of the Urban Field Speaker Series. Programmed by Janine Marchessault and Scott McLeod and presented in association with the Visible City Project and Archive of York University, the series continues to bring an array of international and local participants, including artists, architects, curators, designers and scholars, who offer their unique perspectives on the role of art in transforming the experience of the city. Last year's series featured sold-out talks by such internationally renowned speakers as Cuauhtémoc Medina, José Roca and Anthony Vidler. The upcoming roster includes Brazilian curator Nelson Brissac, Finnish curator Maaretta Jaukkuri and senses scholar Constance Classen, among others.

Seating is limited and guaranteed to sell out, so be sure to register early to guarantee admission. Series passes are available in advance or at the door. Tickets to single events are available only at the door.
