Dirty South and bands on the wavelength, are doing it for the Kids Of All Ages (up to about 130 years old, anyway!) - Too many guitar band fans (averagely 14-16 potential gig going/gig creating public) can tap into the hottest/coolest new bands. Hear the music, buy the records etc, interact with them on the internet but then get turned away from shows for being under 18. Music Tourist Board say All Ages Audiences Are The Best for the coolest new bands to play to! (id required at the bar for alcohol, under 14s accompanied). The more, the merrier. Book your Rock School Holidays in Lewisham!

Matinee is set to be a club which mixes gigging and touring bands(newer wave, tart rock, punk, electro, alt pop etc ) with the best local up n coming talent. Possibly an acoustic set or two from any local musicians around on the day. New DJs are welcome, fanzines and photographers too.

Comperes? Come and have a go. Any goodies that we can get kind friends to part with to give to Matinee audiences will be given away, too... Get involved? Get in touch! inbox @musictouristboard.co.uk - Please note shows on 25 June / 30 July are ?3 entry.

CARDBOARD SUPERSTARS

With a new EP, "SILLY DAYS", recorded at Catford's Orange & Blue studios, out in June, you are invited to hear the tunes loud and live! Ladies and Gentlemen, put your hands together please for CARDBOARD SUPERSTARS!
In 2003 four young, handsome students at Kidbrooke School decided to Form A Band. Menad (guitar), Steffan (guitar), Tommy (drums) and Adam (bass) soon realised they would need someone to stand in front of the mic microphone, so they brought in the lovely Andrew and became Cardboard Superstars. They are sufficiently awesome to have already earned gigs at Huntingdon Racecourse (!), Islington Bar Academy, New Cross Inn and more with bands like the mighty Good Shoes, Dr Feelgood, The Stranglers, Mumrah and Project X.

Last year Adam emigrated to Brazil with his lover Mr Tickle to open a village made of spam to attract fat american families and fit birds!, leaving his bandmates behind to struggle on without him. Luckily, the talented, plucky youngsterscontinued with Menad and Steffan taking on bass duties.

As a result, the songs at http://www.myspace.com/cardboardsuperstars are an out of date sampler of the seminal band.

It's '006, Cardboard Superstars have really moved as a four-piece with better songs and this newly recorded (this month!!!) spanking brandnew EP which will be revealed, at this matinee show.

THE SOCIALITES

School mates formed a band in March 2005. After a name and line up change, The Socialites were born. Influenced by decades of classic alternative rock including The Clash, Queens Of The Stone Age, The Libertines, Green Day and The Smiths, Dan Gardener, Tom O'dwyer, Will Pond and John Fisher play a blend of lyrical newer wave that you can strut to, or hit the dancefloor to. With only a few gigs under their belt, they've already got fans so must be doing something right!

Hear them at http://www.myspace.com/thesocialitesband then catch them (very) live on stage!

Special Guest DJs the increasingly in demand DUCKIE MUSIC who rock the house at the best clubs, with the hottest new bands, after show parties (recently, The Charlatans) and promote their own events (already the stuff of rock'n'roll legend).

Possibly many under 18s won't have seen the Digital Sneakers guitar vids and band profiles - first stages at http://www.digitalsneakers.co.uk - second stages premiered in July and Matinee is a chance to be involved in what happens next, so come early and get the vibe.

MUSIC (as in the power of music) TOURIST (as in bands/crew/fans on tour) BOARD (as in bored of The Way Things Are Supposed To Be Done). A not-for-profit disorganisation of bands and their friends making things happen. Started in Rocklands (in 003), the vibe has spread from The Paradise Bar (RIP) of New Cross around the planet. Cyberspace has no geography.

DIRTY SOUTH - the buzz on the venue has built like a hornet's nest this year. Legends like Mani (Primal Scream/Stone Roses), Terry Hall (Specials/Fun Boy Three), Peter Hook (New Order) and now Andy Rourke (The Smiths) join Alabama 3 and Ludes as part of Dirty South's presenters and DJs family... and some of the best loved new bands are calling in to play, it's sound system has a great reputation, what with the stage area being a REAL rock'n'roll venue and all.

Transport : The 321 bus which runs between Sainsburys (New Cross) and Tescos (Sidcup) - honest! - Dirty South is three bus stops down Lee High Road from Lewisham Rail, or about ten minutes walk. Quite a few buses stop yards from the venue.
