Child Passenger Safety Workshop for Expectant & New Parents

Is a car seat safety class necessary? As a new parent, learning how to select a car seat will make purchasing easier. Many new parents often leave learning how to use the car seat until right before the arrival of their newborn. Like every manual, the car seat installation instructions of both the car seat instruction manual and your car’s owners manual can be lengthy and difficult to understand, many times leading to the improper installation of your child’s car seat. In this Child Passenger Safety Workshop, you will learn the importance of car seat safety, how to select the proper seat for your child, installation tips, and the correct way to secure your child in a car seat. It is important to note that every state requires children to be properly restrained when riding in a vehicle, including upon discharge from the hospital after delivery. Therefore, getting yourself prepared is the best way to ensure your baby’s safety.

The Child Passenger Safety Workshop is about an hour in length and provides information on:
• Properly securing the child in the car seat
• Common car seat errors and solutions
• Crash dynamics
• Stages of car seat: infant – convertible – booster
• Car seat installation demonstration
• Referral List for local car seat fitting stations

The class is facilitated by Benjamin Arias, Certified Child Passenger Safety Technician, with Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital and Santa Clara/San Mateo Safe Kids.

The class is FREE of Charge and is held at Whole Foods in Los Alto. (4800 El Camino Real
