FREE OF CHARGE. FREE OF BORING CORPORATE STUFF. FREE OF CARS.
In 2006, the Car-Free Commercial Drive Festival gave around 35,000 people a glimpse of urban paradise:
One glorious free-for-all street party thrown BY the people of East Van, FOR the people of East Van.
It's time once again to reclaim our streets – FOR FUN. And this summer, due to popular demand, we are doing it TWICE!

This landmark grass-roots phenomenon features the notorious East Van Chopperfest (with pedal-powered soundsystem), roving artists and performers of all flavours, spontaneous peculiar occurrences, a Soap Box for speechifying, Commercial Drive Merchant Market, organization info tables, Special Kidzone, the Cooperative Way, street hockey, tons of babies and dogs, more crazy bikes than you can shake a stick at, and general merry mayhem.

Three perfomance stages include the Grandview Live Stage boasting an eclectic mix of local performers;
the Streetbeat Stage featuring Vancouver's best dj's and other dance-oriented movers;
and the Home-Word Stage dishing up spokenword, storytelling, slam poetry and audience activation.

We ask that you give contributions directly to the Festival (look for roving Donation Fairies), and NOT to renegade "buskers" who do not support the Festival infrastructure. Hundreds of people, including all organizers and stage and street performers, contribute their time and gifts to the Festival FOR FREE, to support our community – you can support them by contributing directly to the Festival.

The Drive Fest gladly accepts donations of cash, goods or services from people who support our community.
We offer in return gratitude, recognition, and 2-for-1 bonus frequent-flyer karma points.

We welcome your feedback and ideas. For more information e-mail: [email protected]

PLEASE DON'T DRIVE TO THE DRIVE! Parking is VERY limited. Ride, walk, or take transit – thank you.
This Festival is an alcohol-free event. We appreciate your respect.
