Capital City Pride June 8, 2007

June 9 - Annual Family Pride Picnic
This event will be at Greenwood Park. It is hosted by the Family Pride Coalition, a program of the LGBT Center of Central Iowa. There is a suggested donation of $10.00 per family for the event.

June 9 - Pride Street Party
Come join a night of fun with our featured entertainer, Pepper MaShay!. Ms. MaShay's hits include "I Got My Pride", "Dive In the Pool", and her newest song "Lost Yo Mind".

The street party will be in the 400 block of E 5th Street, in the East Village of Des Moines. A representative from Governor Chet Culver's office is scheduled to be present at 6:30pm for the ribbon cutting ceremony. The Pride Idol competition starts at 7:00pm.

June 10 - Gay Brunch
Kick off Gay Pride 2007 with the party before the party. The brunch is from 8:00am to 11:00, and will be held at the Thoreau Center, located at 3500 Kingman Boulevard in Des Moines. The cost is $15, and proceeds go to support Capital City Pride and the AIDS Project of Central Iowa. For more information, please click the link below.

June10 - MCC Worship and Praise Service
The service will be at the Simon Estes Ampitheater, and starts at 9:00am.

June 10 - Annual Pride Parade
We are now accepting applications for the 2007 Pride Parade. Click the link below to navigate to the Pride Parade Entry Application form. Parade participants should be ready for the line up at noon at the State Capital building. The parade starts at 1:00pm.

June 10 - Annual Pride Festival
Come join an afternoon of community celebration with our featured entertainer Robin S. Her hits include "Show Me Love", and "It Must Be Love".

The festival will be at the Simon Estes Ampitheater, and will be hosted by Joe Tish. Vendors will be on site from 1:00pm to 5:00, with live entertainment starting at 2:00.

June 10 - Pride Street Party
That's right, not one but two street parties this year! Sunday night's party runs from 6:00pm to 10:00, and is also in the 400 block of E 5th Street, in the East Village of Des Moines.
