The 22-voice Cantare Chamber Ensemble directed by David Morales joins with the acclaimed Oakland Interfaith Gospel Choir and their director Terrance Kelly to present "Let Freedom Ring!", a powerful concert recounting the heroic journey of African Americans from slavery to freedom.

Musical highlights include a new setting of Strange Fruit, made popular by Billie Holiday, MLK as performed by U2, Sweet Honey in the Rock's setting of Ella's Song, plus freedom songs Ain't Gonna Let Nobody Turn Me 'Round and We Shall Overcome. The concert will also include a varied selection of beloved spirituals arranged by Moses Hogan, Alice Parker and William Dawson, as well as vibrant gospel songs, both classic and contemporary.

The multi-faceted program will also feature archival photographs, video clips and narrations of African American poetry by Langston Hughes, Maya Angelou and James Weldon Johnson to illuminate this rich, living American history.
