Nuyorican Café’s Artistic Director and profound Jazz man Rome Neal curates a show honoring the LGBT greats of Jazz. Billy Strayhorn, Bessie Smith, “Ma” Rainey, Billy Tipton are just a few of the names whose work will be performed and Joe’s Pub, Monday July 9th at 9:30pm. Performing artists for the evening will be singer ButtaFlySoul, bass player Linda Oh, pianist Courtney Young, singer Jolie Garrett and tap dancer Laraine Goodman. They make up only one part of an amazing night of Jazz Celebration. The evening is also a benefit for the Fresh Fruit Festival and Jazz Foundation of America.
