Join the Canary Challenge to raise funds for cancer research at Stanford on September 28, 2013. It will be a fabulous day of cycling to benefit Stanford Cancer Institute. Routes are glorious up into Pescadero and along the Northern California coastal communities; through La Honda and Woodside, CA. The routes vary in elevation with something for every level of cyclist. The challenging 100 mile route extends 6400 in elevation; the 100K tops 5100 in elevation; the popular 75K is roughly 3000 elevation, and by far the most chosen route is the 50K with a nearly flat 900 to 1000 elevation. This year, new to Canary Challenge, families and cyclists of every age may choose to participate in the 5K Canary Cruiser. 100 percent of donations benefit Stanford Cancer Institute. The food is exceptional, and the entertainment includes a live band for dancing after the ride. Begins and ends at VMware, Palo Alto 94304. Registration: $25 earlybird in March.

The Canary Challenge is an annual event presented by Canary Foundation, dedicated to early cancer detection. Canary Foundation is committed to the funding, discovery and identification of simple blood and imaging tests to detect cancer early. The foundation is driven by the knowledge that 9 times out of 10, if you detect cancer early, you will survive.

To join the Canary Challenge, individuals and teams are welcome. Team leaders receive a one-of-a-kind promotional bike jersey. In the 2012 Canary Challenge, more than $500,000 was raised for Stanford Cancer Institute by 450+ cyclists who averaged donations of more than $900 per rider. Each cyclist must raise a minimum of $400 to participate by the day of the event.
