Calories For A Cause: A Chocolate Festival And Baking Contest February 10, 2007

Anderson and Pendleton are gearing up for a fantasy of cocoa-based concoctions! The Friends of the Library in Pendleton is hosting this first annual fundraising event that will feature a tasting of chocolate desserts. This will also be an opportunity for Anderson and Pendleton area residents to gain recognition for their culinary talents.

Participants will pay a small fee to enter their chocolate recipes in one of five categories. The proprietors of Good's Candy Shop, Simple Decadence Catering and The Grapevine Bakery will judge desserts.

Attendees at the Tasting Festival will have the opportunity to sample each item, and vote for their favorite. Winners will be announced, prizes will be awarded and Charlie Breese, will auction desserts at the end of the event.

There will be a $5.00 admission ($3.00 for children under 12) for the Tasting Festival and Auction. The contestant entry fee is $10.00 per item or two items may be submitted for $15.00.

One Tasting Festival and Auction ticket will be given for each item entered. Funds will help support future projects at the Pendleton Community Library.

The Chocolate Festival will be held on Saturday, February 10th. at 2:00 p.m. in the Community Room at the Pendleton Community Library 595 East Water Street. Drop by or call the library at (765) 778-7527 or email [email protected] for an entry form or tickets to the event.
