Calling all Volunteers for Earth Day Vancouver Celebration 2008!! April 26, 2008

Hello Everyone, this is our annual call out for Earth Day Volunteers!!



Last year more than 3000 people joined us in celebration of Earth Day at Jericho Park, to get their hands dirty and dance in the sunshine – that is over double the previous year's attendance!



In spite of all the unknown factors of moving to this gorgeous new location, the day went off like a charm. Thanks to the hard work and play, of over 100 volunteers, more than 1,100 trees and shrubs were planted in Jericho Park, and over half a dumptruck-load of invasive plants were pulled out. None of this would have been possible without the hard work and support of environmentally minded individuals like you.



We are now busily gearing up yet again for Earth Day 2008, which will happen on Saturday April 26th at Jericho Beach Park. This will represent another brilliant opportunity to reach new audiences and to connect with the thousands of people who know and love the Park through the Folk Fest. Earth Day 2008 will once again feature a spectacularly diverse, energetic musical line-up brought to you by the Vancouver Folk Festival Society, as well as creative programming by the Secret Lantern Society. Among the new features this year will be an Eco-Market and Enviro-Fair, to showcase local eco-entrepreneurs and organizations who are empowering individuals to honour the Earth, starting right here at home.



Planting, restoration, assisting children or performers, creative programming, greeting, being a general day-of helper...what do you like to do best? Do you have some special skills you'd like to offer on Earth Day?
